Alternate ending for WW2 (By Walter Guerrero)

It was the year 1945, World War 2 was about to finish and without getting into many details about it, we already know how everything started and how terrible were the world since 1939. Let’s give it a thought about its ending, unfortunately we also know how this worldwide event ended, with that terrible atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That’s where this wondering begins, what if that bomb was never created? What if that bomb were never dropped? Let’s analyze those questions.

Without the creation of the atomic bomb, World War II might have seen a prolonged period of conventional warfare. The Allies were making steady progress, and an invasion of Japan would likely have occurred, resulting in significant casualties. Soviet involvement in the Pacific could have been more pronounced, potentially influencing the post-war political landscape. The absence of the bomb might have altered the dynamics of the early Cold War. Additionally, the scientific and technological advancements spurred by the Manhattan Project would have been different, potentially affecting various fields. Lastly, attitudes towards nuclear weapons might have evolved differently without the stark example of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

In conclusion, the absence of the atomic bomb would have undoubtedly reshaped the course and duration of World War II. While victory for the Allies would likely have been achieved through conventional means, the war's aftermath, geopolitical dynamics, and scientific progress would have unfolded along a different trajectory. The atomic bomb's impact on history is undeniable, both in its immediate effects and its enduring influence on global affairs.
